Runway | Culture Professionals training is a great opportunity for people who want to take their organisations and projects to an international level and thus improve the cultural offer in Trenčín, the region or anywhere in Slovakia in the long term. Registration for the next semester will be in August.
"On the Runway I travel 5 hours Svidník—Trenčín and back and it's definitely worth it. You may think that working in culture is easy and you already know your audience, but we still need to educate ourselves," says Miroslav Štoffa from the Podduklian Education Center in Svidník, a participant of the second semester of Runway I Culture Professionals—Education, which is part of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project.
The second semester attracted participants from as far away as Bratislava and Svidník. "I highly recommend this programme, because in addition to experienced lecturers you can meet people from culture, connect and create collaborations," says Zuzana Medzihorská from the The Central Slovakia Gallery in Banská Bystrica. "What I liked most was the topic of strategic planning, which was presented by experts from the Czech Republic in a very creative way. We have already used the workshop on branding for branding the gallery library."
Shared learning between professionals from both established and non-established cultures is highlighted by course participants. "It was very cool to interact with people from both independent culture and state institutions, which allowed us to look at each issue from different sides," explains the director of the Oskar Čepan Award, Andrea Kutlíková from Bratislava.
In the spring of 2023, people from Trenčín, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Moravské Lieskové, Dubnica nad Váhom, Púchov and Stará Turá were also trained in the course.
