For Europe Day, we are planning a walk through the city and inspirational meetings

Trenčín residents will enjoy interesting events on 9 May. On the occasion of Europe Day, they will learn more about their city's past and what its future may look like.

You can look forward to a guided walk called The City Walk (Cesta mesta), during which the well-known city guide Ivor Švihran will talk about the cultural and historical development of Trenčín. You will find out how the city has changed to its present form and we will also reveal some of the plans connected with the title of European Capital of Culture. We will start on the City Walk at 16:30 from the old railway bridge and the walk will take on for about two hours.

For up-to-date information on the Journey of the City walk, check out this Facebook event.

At the same time, a second inspirational event will take place. In Trenčín we want to present the best of the European Capitals of Culture. That's why we will have people from the Kaunas 2022 (Lithuanian European Capital of Culture) team who will show us what working with volunteers and communities can look like. Their fresh experience is very valuable because we are now launching a volunteer programme in Trenčín. The presentation, titled We, the people, will run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Town Tavern (Mestský hostinec).

Both events will continue with a meeting in the Town Tavern, where you can meet or just talk to active people from Trenčín and the surrounding area, including members of the Trenčín 2026 team.

All Europe Day events will be open to the public and free of charge.

Trenčín is changing and you can be there with us!
